CGA Mission Statement
The Corydon Gamer Association, a non-profit organization, was officially organized in 2015 to meet the growing needs of people throughout Southern Indiana who are gamers that have social phobia/social anxiety/PTSD, and to spread suicide prevention throughout Harrison County.
Growing up to be a productive, healthy, and successful adult can be a challenge. As children become adults, they can sometimes develop social disorders, mental health problems, and confusion due to their environment and lack of motivation. The Corydon Gamer Association strives to ensure that gamers have life skills and support during difficult times by providing education and resources within the local community.
SOCIAL ANXIETY DISORDER IS THE THIRD LARGEST MENTAL HEALTH CARE PROBLEM IN THE WORLD TODAY.
You read that correctly.
Social anxiety is not only the largest anxiety disorder, it is the third largest mental health care problem -- all alone, by itself. Most people with social anxiety feel they are like voices screaming for help in a crowded room and no one hears their cries. This problem is one of the major purposes for the formation of the Corydon Gamer Association.
Thus, the major goals of the Corydon Gamer Association are to:
Encourage public awareness of social anxiety (also known as social phobia) and PTSD as well as effective treatment options;
Facilitate the appropriate use and increase the number of therapeutic groups to help people overcome these mental health disorders;
Serve as a resource and information center for matters related to devastating impairments in a nonjudgmental and supportive environment;
Hold meetings for those interested in overcoming social anxiety or PTSD as membership dictates; and
Serve as a resource and information center for matters relating to these disorders and the problems that can arise from them.
